Works on Paper

TThese drawings are meditations—my exploration of our complicated relationship with the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. Firewood, a traditional symbol of hearth and home, is by its very essence, a central part of this cycle.  These drawings are records of the language of drawing itself. Abstract arrangements of light and dark, hard and soft, the seen and the unseen, encouraging the viewer’s eye to wander, and get lost, as the visual experience is as circular as the life of the wood.

My empty bird nest series explores another aspect of shelter, and the delicate balance of life and entropy. These series of drawings mark our steps along the human journey, and contemplate our relationship to our world, and what we both make, and take, from it.
