DRAWINGS
This series of drawings is a meditation on connections.
They are meditations on the circular connection between charcoal, fire, and wood, ourselves and the forest, creation with destruction, life with death.
They are meditations on light and shadow, the hidden and the exposed, details with the whole, shapes with each other.
They are also meditations on my relationship with art, on the difference between making illustrations and fine art: how my illustrations begin with an aim and a problem to solve, and become answers.These drawings are the opposite, they are explorations - each mark affecting the previous one and helping to create the next. They shift and change as they form, they are open ended. They are questions.
